The Problem

Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by her partner or a family member. Many more women are abused, controlled and silenced each day.

But in 1 in 4 countries in the world, there are no explicit laws to protect women and girls from abusive partners or family members.

Too often, domestic violence is not a crime. It’s tolerated. It's excused. And tragically, the violence can lead to murder.

It's time to stop governments allowing domestic violence. It's time to demand change.

International Women’s Day is 8 March 2019. This is the day when the world unites to stand up for the rights of women and girls. We’ll be in New York at the UN headquarters for the Commission on the Status of Women to demand justice for all women.

We will tell governments that the abuse must stop. We will demand action to protect women and girls from domestic violence.

As well as demanding laws and their implementation, we will also demand governments call out disrespect towards women, challenge harmful gender stereotypes and promote respectful relationships.

Because EVERY woman has the right to feel safe in her own home.

Sign our petition to show the world you won’t let abusive men get a free pass. Take action now to end his right to violence.

We will take this petition to the UN to pressure all governments to take immediate action.
